F<\/span>or several years, my friend Caroline and I have talked about going to Prince Edward Island in search of our favorite author, Lucy Maud Montgomery (known as “Maud” to friends and family).<\/p>\n

We’re avid fans, having read all the Anne books several times through, many of her other novels, all five volumes of Maud’s journals<\/a>, as well as the newest extensive biography<\/a>\u00a0released about her life.<\/p>\n

Well, sometimes dreams do come true! Back in July we drove for 13 hours from my home in Connecticut to PEI–and spent four magical days drinking in the sights and beauty there.<\/p>\n

It seems like as soon as I mention this trip, many readers\u00a0swoon and say “I want to do that!”<\/p>\n

Stop 1. Green Gables Heritage Place<\/h3>\n

Head to Green Gables on Google Earth.<\/a>\u00a0If you check out the satellite view you can zoom in and see both the house and the path Lover’s Lane behind it!<\/em><\/p>\n

When you visit Green Gables<\/a> fact and fiction start to blur.<\/strong> I had to keep reminding myself that Anne had not actually<\/em> lived in this house.<\/p>\n

Maud’s cousins, the McNeills, owned this home, which was within walking distance of Maud’s own residence. Situated on the way to her beloved Lover’s Lane, this property inspired her enough to become\u00a0the setting for her famous novel.<\/p>\n
