Thank you, thank you for all the\u00a0support. I can’t tell you how much it’s meant to hear that so many of you find the book useful and<\/em> inspiring, exactly\u00a0what I hoped for during the five years I worked on it.<\/p>\n

What’s the best way to use Give Your Child the World in our homeschool?<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Glad you asked! I purposely made the book\u00a0so it could be used several\u00a0different ways, and I’d love to describe\u00a0those for you here. (And for anyone wondering: Yes – the print\u00a0above is THE\u00a0Eiffel Tower I mention\u00a0about in Chapter 2 that meant so much!)<\/em><\/p>\n

Give Your Child the World: Raising Globally Minded Kids One Book at a Time<\/em><\/a><\/strong> is a reading treasury that guides you to the best global\u00a0children’s literature (over 600 hand-picked titles!), allowing your family to read your way around the world. Perfect for the book and travel lovers among us.<\/p>\n

All the hard work has been done for you, so you can get right to the fun part! I organized the reading lists by region, country, and age range (ages 4-12).\u00a0Each listing includes a brief description of the book, its themes, and any content you might want to have a heads up about.<\/p>\n

For the cost of a single paperback, the book\u00a0gives you\u00a0a\u00a0geography\/history\/literature resource\u00a0you can use for up to 8 YEARS with multiple kids. Read\u00a0an excerpt here.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Check out\u00a0the three main ways I imagine\u00a0families putting it to\u00a0good use:<\/strong>

Option 1. The Informal\/Unschooling Method<\/h4>\n

I wanted both homeschooling and non-homeschooling families to be able to use Give Your Child the World<\/em>, and\u00a0I wrote it with that intent. If you decide to use the book\u00a0informally, just follow your heart in choosing titles that interest your family most.<\/p>\n

Does your child find China fascinating?<\/strong>\u00a0Flip\u00a0straight to the Asia\u00a0chapter, look up your child’s age range, and dive in.<\/p>\n

Are you heading on a road trip soon?<\/strong> The North America chapter has you covered!<\/p>\n

Did a global topic arise in current events?<\/strong> Head to the country index in the back of my\u00a0book and find all the titles to\u00a0help you learn more about that part of the world.<\/p>\n

I even heard of one family who flipped the\u00a0book open at random to decide where they were going to study and “visit” next–so fun!<\/p>\n

Option 2. The History Method<\/h4>\n

Did you know that Give Your Child the World has four indexes:<\/strong> Author, Country, Historical, and Title?<\/p>\n

And in case you think a publisher has someone assigned to make indexes (like I once did)<\/em>, think again: I made all of them!\u00a0When I came up with the idea of creating a historical index, I knew it would be worth the extra work. It opens up an entirely new way for readers to easily use the book.<\/p>\n

I painstakingly went through every title included\u00a0in the reading lists\u00a0to figure out which time period in history they come\u00a0from, then\u00a0organized it all for you in this index.<\/strong>\u00a0So if you have a history curriculum, you can use my book to enhance your studies with other living literature picks.<\/p>\n

This means Give Your Child the World<\/em> isn’t another thing to fit in, but instead adds extra value to\u00a0what you’re already doing. Love that!<\/p>\n

Option 3. The Geography\/Social Studies Curriculum Method<\/h4>\n

You can also use my book\u00a0as your full geography\/social studies this year in a more formal\/structured way!<\/p>\n

I didn’t\u00a0realize this until after I finished the book, but check out how it covers the school year so perfectly:<\/strong><\/p>\n

October – Africa, Chapter 6 of GYCW<\/p>\n

November – Europe, Chapter 7<\/p>\n

December – Do a Christmas Around the World study<\/a>, take the month off for the holidays, or choose from the Multicultural Chapter 5 (which could also be used in September for an earlier start!)<\/em><\/p>\n

January – Asia, Chapter 8<\/p>\n

February – Middle East, Chapter 9<\/p>\n

March – North America, Chapter 10<\/p>\n

April – Latin America, Chapter 11<\/p>\n

May – Australia, Oceania, and Polar Regions, Chapter 12<\/p>\n

This is the method\u00a0I\u00a0plan to follow\u00a0this year in our own homeschool.<\/strong>\u00a0Depending on how much time you have in any given month you can dive in deep or shallow with this idea.<\/p>\n
