Reading books aloud to children stimulates their imagination and expands their understanding of the world. It helps them develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word.

It really helped me not get so overwhelmed with all the ways to homeschool and my concerns of them learning everything they needed from me- simply put if we read together, the rest will come.

We are fairly new in our homeschool venture (first year with all three homeschooled), and reading has been huge! I’ll admit, I wasn’t reading nearly enough ‘chapter books’ to my children until I was encouraged by one of your contributors. 🙂 In only one short month, my children have become so accustomed, they will run upstairs to get into bed early so that they can hear more of the story. I can’t think of a sweeter way for my 5 year old to fall asleep. I also find that we are making so many connections through our reading, enforcing what we’ve been learning along the way.
