Hi, Kaylee.

We have a rather unique screen story. My oldest struggled with SPD as a toddler and was terrified of certain sounds. He was completely afraid of television until he was about 6 or 7. People joke about how they wish their kids had been like that, but it was really a nightmare. But the end result is that it’s kind of the last thing on our list. My kids do use screens for learning and they watch TV and movies, but the TV use is usually at the end of the day just before or after dinner.

All that said, I want you to know you aren’t alone in this struggle. I’m hearing from LOTS of parents that have struggled with screens this year. And it’s been a year when screens are required far more than they ever have been! Such a weird year!

I have allowed quite a bit of screen time “creep” lately. It seems to be taking up more and more of their time and now I am not sure how to reverse the process.

Judy!!!

It’s so nice to “see” you on here. This comment made my entire day! Thank you for sticking with us and sharing in our journey. I always love your comments. You understand the public education system, gifted/2e kiddos, and the need to get creative with educating these kiddos. Your support over the years means the world to me.

Your grandkids are going to be super lucky!! And, yes, my three are WAY TOO BIG. I need a pause button. They grow up in a blink!

Your family has given me so much joy over the years regarding the idea of homeschooling. I loved my job as a public school gifted consultant (retired 8 years now). But I’m glad to be done with the business of running a school. My grownup daughter wonders if I’ll homeschool when she decides to have kids. So if I finally end up as a grandma, I thank your family for helping with that push. I haven’t been holding my breath…
