I needed this! I never thought I was an angry person until after parenting kids that have been through trauma. It definitely pushes you out of your comfort zone.

By: Mia https://simplehomeschool.net/angry/#comment-625341 http://simplehomeschl.wpengine.com/?p=53243#comment-625341 I also found this blog post today and it has helped me so much to know I’m not alone in how I feel. This afternoon was going pretty badly until I read this. I’m very introverted with a child who is the exact opposite and very clingy and needy lately. I have been so angry and I need quiet time. I’m also a homeschooler, but I had stopped going to church because I was too depressed and no energy to leave the house sometimes. I’m so relieved to know I’m not the only mama out there like this. This post helped me so much and your comment did, too, since we were having the same problems the same day.. weirdly.. since this post and comments are from a year ago!

Thank you Jamie and thank you Jesus! During my last pregnancy I had rage issues- I brought them up to my doctor off handed not really thinking she could help. She asked about depression. Bingo! And now again two years later, we’ve been under a lot of stress around here, I homeschool and was just so angry all the time. Every word of your post spoke to me. I’m an infp but otherwise 100 percent me. Anger is a cue like hunger that I need to change something. ❤ I’m not broken or a bad mom. I’m an INTP managing PTSD (the Perfect Storm from Hell itself.)
My kids are older (16 and 11yrs), but age only brings different kinds of problems.

One thing that really helped me, was to play my IPod, all day. I kept it low so I could hear and talk. But it drowned out the background noise (even my refrigerator bothers me).
Also Audio Books! Keeping my mind engaged kept my Intuition from absorbing everything around me, or analysing problems too long.
Also, learn to Knit. Keeping your hands busy helps all kinds of things. Its also rhythmic and meditative. (Baby clothes are cheaper, and quick gratification.) A favorite of those in the Psychology and Medical professions for a reason.

Thanks for the reminder that God knows his children and all our unique traits.

He gave us these struggles to show our kids what Humble Strength looks like.
My kids tell me every day that I am a Warrior.
I try.

~Regards

By: Debbie https://simplehomeschool.net/angry/#comment-568842 http://simplehomeschl.wpengine.com/?p=53243#comment-568842 Jamie, I am also an INFJ, and I am just realizing (yes, today) that I suspect I have a highly-sensitive personality. This comes as I try to be home school mom (as an introvert) to the single most talkative and extroverted seven year old only-child on the planet (who, in the absence of a daily play date reverts to asking what dogs and cats and parrots we might visit). Throw in gobs of paperwork and the creation of a Life Book so we can adopt another child (as 42 year old mama) and I am just feeling…. well, overwhelmed. I feel guilty my child annoys me so much, though I wouldn’t change her for the world. I am sad that every attempt at a hobby for me ends in failure because of all the to-dos (even tho my hubs couldn’t be more supportive and hands-on). Our families are thousands of miles away so there is no relief from the grandparents coming over so we can “get away” for the weekend. It is nice to know I am not alone, but I still feel stuck and unsure of what to do about it. It is up and down, of course, getting my alone time. Didn’t ever know I was a highly sensitive person, but perhaps my anger should have cued me in.

Hi Bethany, I just got home from a Homeschool conference and the keynote speaker (a Christian psychologist) recommended a very interesting book that I am in the middle of reading called “Reset your Child’s Brain”. Weird title, I know. But it is about Electronic Screen Syndrome and how to do a fast from electronics to help reset kids who are extremely affected by them. Look it up on Amazon and see what you think. We are going to try it with our 10 year old. It makes a lot of sense and she has helped over 500 children with this. May help to bring us some peace! 🙂

As an INFJ, HSP, and new lead pastor’s wife – finding myself in a very new place far away from everyone and everything I know, (and currently homeschooling three extroverts)…. I’m just saying yes to this post. Thank you SO MUCH. This is an important message, and I’m grateful for your bravery and obedience in posting it.

Kind Blessings,
Kate

Thank you so much for sharing it. God knows I needed this because I wan’t even sure HOW I found your blog and this post. I don’t recall clicking onto Pinterest and getting here but apparently I did. Very timely for me indeed. This article sounds like me to a ‘T’, minus broken glass in the carpet. Apparently my extroverted self has changed over the years, I definitely match up to being a INFJ.
