I’m a huge fan of reading before you go on vacation. It really gets the kids excited and sets the stage. I share the destination specific reading lists I’ve researched on my blog. My kids enjoyed the trip to Canada so much more than I expected. We were lucky with the weather and it was truly impossibly gorgeous at every single turn. I ran out batteries on all my devices every day from taking so many photos! We did not visit this spot during our trip to Prince Edward island. Instead we focused on the geology and other things as there just wasn’t time enough for everything!! But, we loved reading about Anne before our travels and I would recommend anyone do so!

I, too, have been to PEI, three times now, and you are right–it does not disappoint! For my book, “Anne of Green Gables, My Daughter and Me: What My Favorite Book Taught Me About Grace, Belonging, and the Orphan in Us All,” I made a special trip two years ago, in NOVEMBER. It was cold and blustery, but I still loved it. What strikes me about your blog is the amazing similarities to my own trip. I, too, went to GG (they opened it special for us!), Silver Bush, Dalvey and–this is the most astonishing–I quoted from the exact same journal entry as you did above, about Maud’s mother! We also saw and adored “Anne and Gilbert”! I would love to keep in touch with such a kindred spirit! Definitely come to visit here if you can. The Anne attractions are wonderful and there is much much more beauty to explore on top of that! If you have chance, take some time to visit our beautiful beaches, lighthouses, stunning trails, and fascinating heritage sites (such as Orwell Village and Roma) on the East side of the island. Such an amazing place. I discover more and more amazing places to visit here all the time.

We also drove out to Cape Tryon…in our minivan. What an adventure down that red dirt road! So worth it though. Those cliffs. And the views of the Gulf of St. Lawrence were spectacular. We didn’t have time to see Anne and Gilbert: The Musical, but we did amble down the streets of Charlottetown enjoying Cows ice cream. 🙂

Most people believe that Anne is an INFP. She talks more than the average introvert, but from everything I have experienced and read about INFP’s, she seems to fit that description. Thank you for this post. It has been fun looking through and reliving wonderful memories!
